This year for her Independent Study project, Heidi learned about Pompeii. It was a great project for her as she was interested in the Roman gods and had lots of good books on the subject.
For her presentation, I got to crack open the sewing machine and make her a roman toga, which she loved.
Here she is making her presentation to her class. Every year has gotten better and better. Her first year was notable in that she spent the entire time talking about the decorations she had placed on her trifold board, which stickers she had used and which stuffed animals were her favorite. This year, she was very knowledgable and did a great job talking about all she had learned.
This is at the Quest Fair where all the Quest projects are on display.
Part of Heidi's project was to find a problem with her topic and then find someway to fix it. The problem with Pompeii is that people still live on or near Mt. Vesuvius and it could erupt again. Heidi made a commercial to convince people to move away from Mt. Vesuvius.
